The Guitar Challenge: Learn the Guitar, Play Your Favorite Songs & Live the Dream in 30 Days or Less

A 30 day challenge to start learning the guitar from scratch, no matter your age!

Have you ever tried to learn the guitar before?

Have you wanted to experience the thrill of playing, but get so frustrated at trying to learn it on your own?

Do you know someone who is good at guitar?

They can listen to a song once and play it back for you.

They can write their own songs.

They can be the life of the party.

I do.

And it used to drive me bananas.

What did they know that I didn’t?

Did they sell their soul at the crossroads?

What’s the secret?

I'll tell you exactly what the secret is…

Many years ago I when I started playing guitar I was in a garage band.

One of the deepest levels of satisfaction that you can experience is playing music with a handful of like-minded musicians, then performing live before an audience of raving fans.

It’s amazing.

But how many shows did I play with that band?

Zero.

Ha!

In fact, the band broke up and reformed without me!

That moment was so frustrating and deflating for me.

Eventually I finally figured out the secret. I found out what my successful friends did that made their guitar playing so great.

...and that is when everything changed for me.

Soon after, I could be able to play songs that I loved and write my own tunes as well.

I opened the doors to my very own teaching school and I had people lined up to learn from me.

How?

I had created a proven system.

Learning the guitar using a proven system is the single most powerful thing you can do to grow your abilities.

If you are just starting to learn or have tried and failed in the past, a proven system to learn is your golden ticket.

But how do you learn the guitar without all that theory?

Your Instructor

Tim Woosley
Tim Woosley
My name is Tim Woosley.
I am the founder of Open Heart Teaching.
Over the past nine years, I've have taught this proven system of learning the guitar to hundreds of satisfied students.
It wasn’t always easy.
When I was learning in the mid eighties, I didn’t have the internet at my disposal. The path I had made over the years involved figuring it out on my own.
It started with my dad showing me a few things. His knowledge was limited but helpful.

I would scour magazines like Guitar For the Practicing Musician to try and better understand how to play the guitar the way I wanted to.

I went to countless live shows and befriended an amazing guitarist who taught guitar, but I still couldn’t connect the dots seamlessly.

There was no system that seemed to fit me.

During that time I joined more bands, jammed with countless musicians and asked hundreds of questions to anyone who would listen.

Over the years I slowly accumulated enough info that I could be able to play the guitar confidently.

But it wasn’t easy.

In the summer of 2007, I started teaching guitar out of my spare bedroom for additional income.

And that’s when it hit me.

I taught people at the very beginning of their journey on the guitar the same lessons over and over, adjusting the lessons here and there until I discovered a system that worked for the student.

In the last nine years I have refined and polished my system. This system has proven itself hundreds of times before with people of all ages.

This system has helped beginners write songs, perform them live in front of an audience and given them the confidence of the guitar that they had been previously desiring.

Whatever you do, avoid these 3 things (when learning the guitar)!

There is one thing you have to avoid when learning the guitar on your own.

A big mistake.

There are 3 mistakes I constantly see people making that derail them and crush their chances of making it..

On my journey of learning the guitar, I encountered each one of these and was able to beat them. You will face each one of them on your journey. But you HAVE TO OVERCOME them if you're going to reach your goal of playing the guitar.

Mistake #1: Never Getting Started

Look, I get it.

This whole thing can seem really overwhelming.

Everywhere you turn you can find a wealth of information on how to do just about anything you can think of, whether it’s learning guitar, changing a tire on your car, solving a Rubik’s cube, or building an email list online.

The amount of data to sift through is absolutely insane.

So you do nothing.

There is a better way. A more efficient and thorough way to learn what you need to know.

You HAVE to have a guide.

Mistake #2: Thinking you need to read music to play

It seems like there are a lot of important things to do while playing the guitar.

There’s fingering the notes, making sure you are playing the right strings, strumming the right tempo, switching the chords in time, and on top of that there is a whole new language to learn as the cherry on top!

There is the music staff, notes, sharps, flats, scales, the circle of fifths, modes, etc. It all seems unending.

When you think of all the things necessary to achieving that goal, it feels completely hopeless! You just want to play guitar!

Pass.

The truth is, you don't need to learn how to read music to play the guitar.

You can be playing the guitar (without complicated music theory) in less than five minutes!

Which leads us to mistake #3.

Mistake #3: Trying to do everything by yourself

One common problem is thinking you can do everything by yourself.

Watching YouTube videos...

Scanning UltimateGuitar.com for tabs and chords...

Gazing at the cool gear at Guitar Center ...

That stuff will only take you so far.

You need more.

You need accountability and direction from someone who has been where you are trying to go.

Someone to hold your hand, push you when needed, encourage you when needed and hold you ACCOUNTABLE.

Who is helping you?

Who is holding you accountable?

Your answers to these questions are VITAL to reaching your goal.

And to provide the accountability and support system you crave.

Each lesson will leave you with an easy-to-follow action item and schedule so you can methodically implement what you've learned.

No guesswork.

No scanning YouTube.

No more blog posts or podcasts.

Just follow the plan.

What will you learn in the course?

This course covers three primary topics:

1. Understanding Your Guitar

Learning how to play the guitar might sound... hard! When you are just starting out, it sounds like an impossible goal. It's not.

In The Guitar Challenge course, you'll learn 27 different lessons for learning the guitar. Every strategy will be meticulously broken down so you can easily follow along and implement it in your playing.

But (and here is the important part) me teaching you a bunch of strategies won't help you.

The key to reaching your goal is following a proven framework.

The Guitar Challenge course isn't just a collection of a bunch of popular strategies: it gives you the framework and sequencing of when you need to implement each strategy.

Quick example…

Music theory. Everyone says you need to know it, right? You do!

But you DON'T need to even think about music theory until you can play a little bit. Why? Because our goal is to be enjoying the guitar as fast as possible.

That's why the course is broken into four major phases. Each milestone has a list of objectives and strategies. Your job is to execute these strategies in order. (No music theory until you're ready.)

2. Practicing Your Guitar

Learning the guitar isn’t as easy as ordering a pizza. You will need to develop the proper mindset for achieving your goals on the guitar. That mindset doesn’t happen on accident.

There are so many opinions about how to practice. It can be overwhelming. What a PAIN! With this course you can avoid al of that.

I’m going to share with you proven strategies that will help maximize your progress through minimal efforts. You will learn the exact plan I use to ensure that distractions are kept to a minimum.

As a member of The Guitar Challenge, you'll have exclusive access to these systems.

3. Playing Your Guitar

One of the biggest concerns I hear from beginners is about what they will be learning on the guitar in the beginning. Their fear is that we will be talking about the music staff and learn simple songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Hot Cross Buns like in junior high band.

We won’t be discussing a lot of lofty notions of notes on the staff, scales, or other clinical things some courses start with. We are going to be rocking out as soon as possible!

We will be learning several real songs that have been featured on popular radio stations for many years.

These songs will be recognized by your friends and family. I'm going to give you an easy-to-follow blueprint to keep you on track and keep you progressing in your abilities faster than ever.

No guesswork.

No lingering doubts.

You will see my exact set-up and what I suggest you do at each stage of your growth.

I spent two years trying to teach myself the guitar before I finally signed up. The very first class had me playing classic rock riffs, and in the six weeks of class, we covered everything I had tried teaching myself and more.

Tim's flexible style of teaching simplifies the guitar while challenging you with new techniques. If you are even on the fence about taking guitar lessons, I strongly recommend taking this class. The price is right, the instructor knows what he’s doing, and this ... course could be the great start to something new!

One piece of advice; stick with it even though your fingertips are hurting...they will toughen up. Once the calluses are built up, never let them go away so you don't have to start over with that!

Lastly, you're never too old to start. I picked up guitar for my 52nd birthday, and if I can do it, anybody can. I'm no Jimi Hendrix or Brad Paisley, but I don't think you have to be a superstar in order to derive pleasure or enjoyment from playing the guitar.
